KEEPING NATURE TOURS

Keeping Nature sustainability policy

Commitment to sustainability

At Keeping Nature Tours, we are deeply committed to environmental conservation, promoting cultural heritage, and respecting local communities in each of our destinations.
We understand that tourism, managed responsibly, can become an engine of sustainable development for Colombia and the biodiverse regions where we operate.

Our work is based on principles of environmental, social, and cultural responsibility, encouraging our employees, clients, and suppliers to behave respectfully toward nature and people.

Context

Colombia is a country of exceptional biodiversity, home to 314 types of ecosystems and occupying a strategic position between two oceans and three mountain ranges. However, global challenges—such as increasing carbon emissions, excessive resource consumption, and the generation of polluting waste—threaten this natural wealth.

Faced with this situation, at Keeping Nature Tours we choose the path of sustainable tourism, aware that every action counts to protect the ecosystems we admire so much.

We were born from the heart of a biologist and a deep love for wildlife, which is why talking about KNT means talking about conservation, responsible ecotourism, and genuine commitment.

Our sustainability policies:

  1. Biodiversity Conservation We are committed to protecting and preserving local flora and fauna, with special attention to endemic and endangered species.
We promote monitoring, research, environmental education, and best practices for responsible observation.

  2. Responsible Use of Natural Resources We promote the responsible consumption of water, energy, and other resources in all our operations.
We implement energy efficiency and waste reduction measures and avoid the use of single-use plastics.

  3. Respect and Support for Local Communities We work hand in hand with local communities, respecting their traditions, culture, and territory.
We generate local employment, support community initiatives, and promote respectful and enriching interactions.

  4. Environmental Education We offer educational programs for our employees, partners, and travelers, highlighting the importance of biodiversity conservation and respect for the environment.

  5. Responsible Tourism We design experiences that minimize environmental and cultural impact, promoting:
    • Use of authorized trails.
    • Proper waste management.
    • Controlling tourist loads to avoid overcrowding at destinations.
    • Promoting the use of reusable thermoses and bags.

  6. Participation in Conservation Initiatives We collaborate with local, national, and international organizations on conservation and sustainability projects.

  7. Prevention of the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents (ESCNNA) We adopt active measures to prevent and report all forms of child exploitation, in line with Colombian legislation and international ethical principles.

  8. Valuation and Protection of Cultural Heritage We promote the appreciation and respect for tangible and intangible cultural assets in the regions where we operate, fostering their understanding and conservation.

  9. Sustainability Indicators We implement self-assessment and monitoring mechanisms, such as:
    • Monitoring local communities’ perceptions of tourism.
    • Evaluating the environmental impacts of our activities.
    • Periodic review of our practices to ensure continuous improvement.
